• I need a calm environment: Yes • I can live in the city: No • I can be placed in a family with children: No information • I can live with other dogs: Yes • I have lived with cats: No information • I have the following special characteristics regarding temperament or breed: Yes, I need a calm home with experience in raising dogs. • Concerning my health, notable items are: No • The following health measures have been taken for me: X-ray of the hips and cleaning of the hams. • I have lived in foster homes: No • I have been in a shelter kennel for over 2 years: No • I can walk on a leash: No, but we are practicing. I arrived at the shelter kennel with my siblings six weeks ago in December 2025. We were in a place before the shelter kennel with challenging living conditions. We were helped multiple times, and eventually, our owner agreed to surrender us to the shelter kennel. A total of 16 dogs found new homes, 11 of which were puppies. We were used to living freely outdoors and, for that reason, didn't know if we could trust humans. We had no previous opportunity to get to know humans, which is why I am still wary of strangers. Currently, I am learning to trust humans and attach easily to those I trust. My greatest wish is to find a family that has the time, patience, and experience to take in a dog like me, who has a lot to give in terms of love. A brave dog sibling in a new home would surely help me gain confidence and learn the skills of a house dog!

About Junara

What life with Junara looks like

Junara is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pet Rescue Finland in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Junara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Junara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pet Rescue Finland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Junara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Junara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pet Rescue Finland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Junara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Junara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pet Rescue Finland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Junara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
