Peikko, a registered Chinese Crested dog, is looking for a new home in a very quiet residential area. The shelter is currently accepting inquiries ONLY via email. Please provide detailed information about your experience with dogs and the type of home you can offer Peikko. Peikko is a sensitive girl who is shy around new people and some situations, probably due to limited human contact earlier in her life. She quickly bonds with her owner and seeks closeness and petting. Peikko gets along well with other dogs, small and large friends are fine. To avoid potential problems, Peikko is preferably placed with a social male dog companion. The dogs must meet at least once before the adoption decision. Peikko guards her food and to some extent also her bed from other dogs. In the future home, it will be necessary to arrange dog feeding in a separate room to avoid potential problems. There have been no instances of guarding a bowl or bed from people. Peikko is naturally shy, so the future home should have experience with an anxious dog. Peikko is afraid of traffic while walking, cars, mopeds and electric scooters are frightening. The future home should be located in a quiet residential area to avoid unnecessary stress during walks. Peikko is not placed in a family with small children, possibly with teenagers who are no longer so lively in their movements. Traveling by car is uneventful even though she is afraid of cars while walking; however, it is safe inside the car. Peikko has adapted well to being alone with the dogs in her foster home and has not caused any damage or noise. An adult home in a detached house where life is already quieter and more stable is preferred for Peikko. The future home must commit to training the dog using positive reinforcement and give the dog time to get used to its new environment and people. A dog's behavior may also differ from the description when moving to a new home, so everything learned earlier may need to be relearned. Peikko etsii kotia hyvin rauhalliselta asuinalueelta Peikosta otetaan tällä hetkellä kyselyjä vastaan AINOASTAAN sähköpostitse. Omaan ihmiseen kiintyy nopeasti ja hakeekin läheisyyttä sekä rapsutuksia. Peikko tulee toimeen toisten koirien kanssa, pienet ja isot kaverit kelpaavat hyvin. Mahdollisten ongelmien välttämiseksi Peikko sijoitetaan mieluiten sosiaalisen uroskoiran kaveriksi. Koirien tulee tavata ainakin kerran ennen kotiutuspäätöstä. Peikko vahtii ruokaansa sekä jossain määrin myös petiään toisilta koirilta. Tulevassa kodissa tuleekin varautua järjestämään koirien ruokailu eri tilassa mahdollisten ongelmien välttämiseksi. Ihmistä kohtaan ei ole esiintynyt kupin tai pedin vahtimista. Peikko on luonteeltaan arka joten tulevalla kodilla tulisi olla kokemusta arasta koirasta. Peikko pelkää ulkoillessa paljon liikennettä, ohi ajavat autot, mopot ja sähköpotkulaudat ovat pelottavia. Tulevan kodin tuleekin sijaita rauhallisella asuinalueella jotta vältetään turha stressi ulkoillessa. Peikkoa ei sijoiteta pienten lasten perheeseen, mahdollisesti voisi jo isompien, teini-ikäisten lasten kanssa jotka eivät enää ole niin eläväisiä liikkeissään. Automatkustaminen sujuu ongelmitta vaikka autoja ulkoillessa pelkääkin, niiden sisällä on kuitenkin turvallista. Yksinolo on sujunut sijaiskodin koirien kanssa ongelmitta, ei ole tehnyt mitään tuhoja tai pitänyt meteliä. Peikolle etsitään mieluiten aikuiskotia omakotitalosta jossa elämä on jo rauhallisempaa ja tasaista. Tulevan kodin tulee sitoutua huolehtimaan koiran koulutuksesta positiivisen vahvistamisen kautta ja antaa koiralle aikaa tottua uuteen ympäristöön sekä ihmisiin. Koiran käytös voi myös poiketa kuvauksesta uuteen kotiin siirtyessään jolloin kaikki jo opittu voidaan joutua opettamaan uudelleen. Peikko on sijaiskodissa Uudellamaalla jonne tyttöön pääsee sovitusti tutustumaan. Painoa Peikolla on noin 8kg.
