Adopt Juno

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 8 years

Juno – a special dog is waiting for her home. Juno is an approximately 8-year-old dog who has lived in the Bulgarian shelter for many years and has adapted to the conditions there. For a long time, she was mistrustful and very reserved, not allowing any contact with people. However, Juno has learned to trust at her own pace and is now open and approachable towards her caregivers. Juno is a very special dog - you can tell at first glance. About two years ago, she lost her left eye due to a severe eye infection. However, she copes very well with this and has no limitations in her daily life. In terms of character, Juno is shy and reserved. She needs time to get used to new situations and people. Once you have gained her trust, she loves petting and allows closeness. Juno gets along well with other dogs and meets them kindly. Now Juno is ready to exchange the animal shelter for a warm place in her forever home. An experienced dog home or a foster home would be ideal - people who know what it means to gently guide a shy dog into a new life. Juno will need time to adjust, build trust, and fully allow closeness. An experienced first dog could be a great help to her. Anyone who approaches Juno with calmness, patience, and a lot of care will experience how she opens up and shows what a wonderful dog is inside her. A home in a rural area with a large garden, where she can run freely, relax, and rest, would be her greatest wish. Who is ready to accompany Juno on her way to happiness and give her a foster or final home? Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring along a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adapt to their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Juno, please contact the responsible advisor from SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. Here is Juno's video.

About Juno

What life with Juno looks like

Juno is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Juno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Juno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Juno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Juno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Juno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Juno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Juno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
