Adopt Jurta

Komondor · Male · Adult · 6 years

Jurta is a large, young male dog, born around 2020, resembling a Komondor, who came into our care as a stray. Jurta is a bit shy, but once we approach him, he's always up for playing. For now, he's alone in a kennel, but as we see, he doesn't fight with the other kennel mates. Very well-tempered young male dog. Currently, his coat is cut short for the summer, but this fur will become wooly and require grooming. We are looking for a home for him where he can be a full family member and have enough time to adjust to the new family, because he is unsocialized and is still afraid of the leash. Often we write that youth can bring many losses, so there is no guarantee that an abandoned shoe in the apartment or perhaps a few pieces of furniture will remain spotless after getting to know a young dog. Dog training is strongly recommended. We hope that his Angel comes, who has been waiting for him, who gives him everything that he may not have received so far, a proper home and love as a dog and family member. Jurta is microchipped, vaccinated, and neutered. Adoptable. 01. More photos HERE!

About Jurta

What life with Jurta looks like

Jurta is a small adult komondor dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs socialization, fearful of leash, requires patient owner for adjustment period

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jurta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jurta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jurta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jurta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jurta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jurta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jurta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
