Kai

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Kai turns 2 years in February, his owners were asked in April by the breeder to take him on because they have his full sister, which they did. Very sadly Kai hasn’t had a great start in life after his first owners kept him crated for long periods and they believe he’s been left hand shy. Kai loves the children that he’s been around and will happily play ball with them all day. He gets very excited playing ball and can get very Yappy according to his owners. He really enjoys the company of other dogs that he knows, he can bark at a strange dog if the dogs barks at him first, but then he will run away from them rather than engage further, if they are fine with him he’s fine with them. Kai has a great recall to his name and they believe he had been whistle trained by his first owner. Kai is neutered, he’s fine around livestock and has appeared playful towards cats. He’s a good traveller and loves going on days out and adventures. Kai is a very loving boy who loves to cuddle especially under the duvet, he’s also a very gentle, sweet boy. He doesn’t like being left alone and has been destructive in the past chewing cushions and other soft furnishings, but this has improved. Kai is also an opportunist food thief and he will help himself to plates of food left around. If you feel you could offer this sweet boy the life that he deserves with the ongoing training that he needs please contact us. Kai will be rehomed with his free 5 weeks Agria Insurance and his Adoption Contract. GSP Rescue UK Terms & Conditions apply. 💜🐾🐾 © GSP Rescue UK 2016–2026 GSP Rescue UK is a working name of German Shorthaired Pointer Trust, a Registered Charity in England & Wales No. 1172457

About Kai

What life with Kai looks like

Kai is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kai, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kai?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kai on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kai if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kai already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kai isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kai and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
