adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Kaimi belongs to the dogs who suffer in silence—and are often overlooked for much too long. He has been in the shelter for over four years now and is still waiting. Four long years without a home, without a primary caregiver, without the chance to simply settle in. For a sensitive dog like him, that’s an incredibly long time. Kaimi is about 11 years old, roughly 60 cm tall, and a sturdy, medium to large male dog. With increasing age, he has developed an impressive calmness. He exudes serenity, appears balanced and at peace— a dog who no longer needs much, except a safe place and reliable people by his side. Despite his long time in the shelter, Kaimi shows friendliness and openness towards people. He allows closeness, enjoys affection, and meets with calm and relaxation. He is also compatible with other dogs and shows social behavior in their company. However, cats are not among his friends. What is particularly touching is how much Kaimi enjoys every single moment outside his kennel. As soon as he can momentarily leave his dreary routine behind, he visibly blossoms, takes in his surroundings calmly and with interest, and appears so content. It breaks one’s heart to see that after all these years, he still has to return and wait. Visually, a mix of German Shepherd and Shar-Pei can be suspected in Kaimi. His sturdy build, distinctive face, and calm demeanor make him a very special dog who immediately catches the eye—not through loudness, but through his quiet presence. A life in the house is likely unknown to Kaimi. House training, leash manners, and everyday rules still need to be learned. But at his age, it’s not about perfection, but about settling in in peace. With patience, clear structures, and loving companionship, he will adapt well. For Kaimi, we wish for a quiet home with dog-experienced people who appreciate his calm nature. An ideal environment would be a rural setting without much hustle and bustle. He should finally get the chance to settle in and spend his last years not in the shelter, but loved and cherished in a family. Kaimi is neutered and travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Kaimi

What life with Kaimi looks like

Kaimi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaimi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaimi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaimi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaimi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaimi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaimi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaimi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
