Adopt Kairo & Karl

Mixed Breed · Male

Kairo & Karl – two young hearts eager to finally arrive Kairo (Podenco) and Karl (Bardino) are two young male dogs, both under two years old, whose start in life was anything but fair. On Fuerteventura, they, like many others, were simply discarded. Kairo, a delicate Podenco, was found without a chip and registration after the hunting season. When he was no longer deemed useful, he was set free. Karl, a young Bardino, was also found homeless on the streets of the island. Despite their past, both have maintained their friendly, open nature. They are social with all animals, incredibly loving with people, neither fearful nor intrusive – simply two wonderful dogs who wish to be loved. Currently, they share a pen, two young male dogs who earnestly hope that someone will see them and give them a chance at a real home. Kairo and Karl wish for people who will show them how beautiful a dog life can be – with care, security, and genuine bonds. Those willing to give these two souls a new chapter will gain loyal, grateful companions for life. If you wish to adopt one of these treasures, please fill out the interest form. Here is its link: Adopt Kairo & Karl This interest form is the basis for a detailed phone call with you, where we will gladly answer all your questions. Your team from Sando e. About Kairo & Karl

What life with Kairo & Karl looks like

Kairo & Karl is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Sando e.V. in Vechelde.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kairo & Karl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kairo & Karl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Sando e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kairo & Karl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kairo & Karl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Sando e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kairo & Karl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kairo & Karl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Sando e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kairo & Karl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
