Kaja

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Mixed-breed Kaja - a little soul with a lot of potential Kaja and her brother Badu are the children of Angela and were born in the shelter in Bulgaria. Now they are old enough to finally find their own families or a foster home. Kaja is a still somewhat shy but loving female dog. She gets along well with other dogs and is friendly towards people - but currently still a bit reserved. She just needs time to gain trust and feel safe. For Kaja, we wish for people who will accompany her with calmness, patience and empathy and give her the opportunity to arrive at her own pace. She should be gently introduced to all the new things she doesn't know yet. Housebreaking, staying alone, driving, leash training and the many everyday stimuli are still on Kaja's learning program. With patience, structure and positive reinforcement, she will learn step by step and discover the world. Who is ready to accompany a young dog in growing up, learn together, take small setbacks with humor and at the same time provide age-appropriate exercise and plenty of cuddle moments, will find a loyal companion in Kaja. Kaja still has her whole life ahead of her. She wants to discover, learn, gain trust and grow together with her humans. Who would like to enable Kaja to take a step into a better future and show her how beautiful a home can be? Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack with past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Kaja, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy to provide a foster home. Here's Kaja's video

About Kaja

What life with Kaja looks like

Kaja is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
