Kajtek

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Kajtek came to us from Bedonia. He wandered around, trying to get attention and beg for food with his pleading eyes. Someone took notice of his plight, and he was brought to our shelter. During his diagnosis, it was discovered that Kajtek is deaf. He also underwent treatment for babesiosis, which he had contracted. Kajtek is a gentle and quiet dog. Despite his total deafness, he manages well in everyday life and learns communication based on gestures very quickly. He can be initially aloof with new people, but once he trusts someone, he shows his affectionate side. He loves interaction with his caregiver, enjoys being close, seeks peace, and values human presence. He gets along well with other animals. He has been accepted by the fund's domestic pack of dogs. He also accepts cats and lives well with them. What kind of home are we looking for? We are looking for a calm and patient home for Kajtek, where he will be surrounded by love. Given that Kajtek is deaf, we are looking for someone who is aware of his needs, who will be willing to communicate with him using gestures and ensure his safety during walks. Kajtek can live in a home where there is already another calm dog or cat. He doesn't need an exceptionally active lifestyle. Daily and regular walks will be enough for his happiness. Kajtek is vaccinated, microchipped, and regularly dewormed. He is still waiting for a castration procedure.

Charakter Kajtek to grzeczny i cichy pies. Uwielbia kontakt z opiekunem, chętnie przebywa blisko, szuka spokoju i ceni sobie obecność człowieka. Do szczęścia wystarczą mu codzienne i regularne spacery. Kajtek jest zaszczepiony, zaczipowany i regularnie odrobaczany. Czeka go jeszcze zabieg kastracji.

About Kajtek

What life with Kajtek looks like

Kajtek is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Ziemia Obiecana in 92-761 Łódź.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kajtek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kajtek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Ziemia Obiecana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kajtek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kajtek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Ziemia Obiecana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kajtek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kajtek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Ziemia Obiecana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kajtek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
