Kalle

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Today we present Kalle to you. He did not have an easy start in life. He was found together with his brother Joker on a village meadow in Romania. Amira's grandmother was walking along to the cemetery near the church when she saw the two puppies, about eight weeks old, at the end of December. At around nine months old, he finally got the chance for a new life. Now he lives near Münster and is looking for loving, experienced people who can give him security, structure, and time. With a little patience and calm presence, Kalle warms up. Once he has gained trust, he gives his heart completely. He enjoys cuddles, loves to play, and is very social and playful with almost all dogs. A confident second dog would be ideal for him, as he could orient himself well with this dog. Kalle, the big guy, is a sensitive dog who is still often guided by his uncertainties. In situations that are stressful or too tight for him, or even in his private area, he occasionally shows a tendency to snap. However, never with the intention to hurt. From a training perspective, Kalle knows how to wear a muzzle to protect everyone during visits to the apartment or in clearly stressful situations for him. On the other hand, towards people he knows and loves, Kalle shows his very best side: loyal, cuddly, and a true friend. Unfortunately, his current owner can no longer provide the time and training that Kalle needs to make further progress due to professional changes. Therefore, a new home is being sought for Kalle - with people who have experience with dogs, patience, and empathy. Kalle wishes for a quiet home without much commotion, but with people who understand him and show him that the world is not as dangerous as it sometimes seems to him. If you are ready to accompany Kalle lovingly, consistently, and with your heart, he will be a loyal friend for life.

About Kalle

What life with Kalle looks like

Kalle is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Friends for Life Germany e.V. in Hemer.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Friends for Life Germany e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Friends for Life Germany e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Friends for Life Germany e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
