Kalle Kasper

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Kalle Kasper and his new family have now actively fulfilled all club requirements and have already become a great team. In March 2017, Kalle Kasper was finally rehomed to his new home; we are very happy that another list mix could be rehomed to responsible hands! ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. My name is Kalle Kasper. I am male, neutered, and born in 2012. I have been waiting for a new home since June 2016. I am approximately 50 cm tall. This is what my caregivers say about me: Kalle Kasper is a rescue dog from the Berlin area, as he was overshadowed by the large number of list dogs in his previous club. Here, his chances of being adopted are higher, aside from the legal regulations. We are happy with our new cheerful claps head. Kalle is friendly towards people and always open. Other dogs still need to be tested; for now, he does not make a completely incompatible impression. However, other male dogs should not be in the new home, as we see Kalle more as a single prince. Other animals are not his thing; Kalle has a prey drive. At our place, he shows himself to be agreeably active; naturally, he is not a boring dog of his breed. He is easily influenced, but communication within the future human-dog team still needs to be worked on. This also applies to leash training and basic commands, which he performs, but need to be reinforced. He wants to win people over, who can show him with consistent and loving guidance how beautiful life within a family can be. Children should ideally be older, and the future owners should have dog experience. Because Kalle had surgery on both of his hind knees in his previous club, and additionally hip dysplasia and arthritis were diagnosed, he receives daily pain medication and joint supplements. We are still working on the exact dosage, and once it is fixed, it will be added. The costs are currently manageable, he has no complaints at the moment, and moves appropriately for his age and like a healthy dog. Nevertheless, Kalle Kasper needs to be alternatively occupied and is unsuitable for performance sports. Brain work is an option here. Since Kalle loves water, trips with swimming programs are a good alternative. The new home should have few or no stairs, a house with a garden would be wonderful, but Kalle is also suitable as an apartment dog. At our place, he is house-trained, behaves impeccably during car rides, and being alone is problem-free for him. We are rehoming Kalle due to his breed mix with special conditions; if there is serious interest, we will gladly advise. We and his former caregivers would be happy to meet serious interested parties, as he has waited too long for his chance. Our little clown wants to finally show the world what is inside this compact power package..... The descriptions are impressions and recordings of the animal in our animal shelter and our foster homes. Each animal can develop differently in the new home.

About Kalle Kasper

What life with Kalle Kasper looks like

Kalle Kasper is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalle Kasper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalle Kasper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalle Kasper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalle Kasper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalle Kasper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalle Kasper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalle Kasper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
