Adopt Kamal

German Shepherd · Male · 3 years

Traumatic Start – but a Big Heart: I am Kamal, ready for my Forever Home. I am Kamal, a beautiful male dog with a special story. Originally, I came from Ukraine. After everything I've gone through, I was secured in Germany and came to the animal shelter. Here, I was allowed to slowly recover with my dog friend – she is already rehomed – and has already found her new home. Now, I hope that I will finally find my place. What sets me apart: I am an affectionate, loyal dog when I have gained trust. I like to go for walks – preferably in quiet surroundings, with some distance from strangers and other dogs. I wear my muzzle very naturally – it gives me security. I get along well with female dogs – with male dogs, it depends on individual affinity. I can be alone in dog society. With familiar people and dogs, I show my loving, affectionate nature – I am then also cuddly! I make a great effort to understand new things – even though much is still unfamiliar to me. What I still need to work on: Outdoors, I react to strangers and other dogs with insecurity, show leash aggression, and then unfortunately go forward – with distance and good guidance, it already works much better. New situations, especially vet visits, scare me – here, I need loving patience. Whether I can be alone needs to be slowly tested and practiced. Male dogs are not really my thing – that needs to be individually tested. What I am looking for: A rural home without children. People with dog experience and a sensitive sense for sensitive characters. Clear, quiet guidance and the willingness to get to know me slowly. A confident female dog as a dog partner – that helps me orient myself. Patience, love, and reliability – I am ready to give my heart. If you believe we are a match, please contact my animal caretakers at Lassie-House at 030 76 888-220 or fill out the inquiry form. I look forward to meeting you – at my own pace.

About Kamal

What life with Kamal looks like

Kamal is a medium-sized adult german shepherd dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires muzzle for security, has leash reactivity, fearful of veterinary visits, traumatized background from Ukraine

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kamal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kamal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kamal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kamal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kamal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kamal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kamal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
