Kapitan

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 14 years

CAPTAIN is a male in the bull type. He arrived at the animal shelter in 2017. The puppy has an eye condition, probably a complication from an illness, he probably sees very little, if at all. Basic information: - age about 9 years - deworming/flea treatment: yes - vaccinations: yes - neutering: yes - chip: yes - relationship with dogs: varies, rather negative, needs to be with his own - behavior: Kapitan is initially a shy and distrustful dog. He needs time to open up and bravely walk beside a person. He has a lot of energy and needs exercise. He can walk on a leash. We are aware that Kapitan is an older dog (his energy does not indicate that at all) and has poor eyesight. This does not change the fact that we are looking for a responsible and consistent home for him, which will be prepared for possible work with the dog. He is not an aggressive dog! A gentle but consistent approach is needed. We are looking for a home without very young children. Virtual adoption:

KAPITAN to samiec w typie bullowatego. Trafił do schroniska w 2017 r. Szukamy domu raczej bez malutkich dzieci. Wirtualna Adopcja :

About Kapitan

What life with Kapitan looks like

Kapitan is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Konin in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kapitan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kapitan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Konin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kapitan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kapitan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Konin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kapitan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kapitan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Konin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kapitan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
