Adopt Karibu

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born around 2022 Gender: male neutered: yes Character: friendly, calm Size: approx. 55 cm In shelter since: December 2023 Hello there, I would like to introduce myself: My name is Karibu and I am desperately looking for a cozy dog bed. I am a friendly fella and am glad to be in safety here in the shelter. Life on the streets was hard and what I experienced will probably remain my secret. When I was found, it was discovered that my leg was broken. Luckily, it was quickly attended to, and now I am on the road to recovery. I am taking it slow now and will surely be back on my feet soon after my accident. I am still a guest here in the clinic for a while, so the other dogs don't overdo it with their play. I have to say, this can be quite boring here. But I would really like to leave my past behind and start a completely new life! And that's exactly what I'm looking for you! With me, you get a loyal companion who brings a calm demeanor. My gaze is simply wonderful and lovable (I've heard the people here say). Now I am searching for a place where I can find security and be part of a loving family. I would like to spend time with people, whether it's a walk together or simply cuddling on the couch. If you are looking for a loyal companion, then I am exactly the dog you are looking for. Let's spend a wonderful time together and give each other the happiness we deserve. Warm regards, your Karibu If you are interested in Karibu, please fill out our interested party form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Karibu is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Karibu has been taken over by Myriam M. and ensures a full plate.

About Karibu

What life with Karibu looks like

Karibu is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karibu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karibu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karibu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karibu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karibu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karibu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karibu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
