Karl

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 15 years

Hello, my name is Karl, and I’m a 15 year old Pug cross Chihuahua looking for a peaceful retirement home to spend my golden years. I’m a gentle older gentleman who enjoys the quieter things in life these days. While I’m not looking for big adventures, I do still enjoy a little potter about and would love a secure garden where I can safely mooch around, sniff the flowers, and watch the world go by. Because of my age, I have a few medical issues that will need ongoing management, but that doesn’t stop me enjoying life and spending time with my favourite people. 💚 I’m looking for a home with children aged 14 and above who can understand that I like a calm and predictable environment. Other dogs can make me feel worried and uncomfortable, so I need to be the only pet in the home where I can enjoy all the love and attention to myself. A secure garden with at least 4ft fencing is a must for me, giving me the freedom to wander and relax at my own pace. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion who is ready to enjoy plenty of cosy naps, gentle companionship, and all the comforts retirement life has to offer. If you’re looking for a sweet senior friend to share your sofa and your heart, I could be the perfect match for you. Lots of love and licks, Karl 💚🐾

About Karl

What life with Karl looks like

Karl is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Karl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
