Adopt Karla in Portugal

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Age: born 20.02.2026 Weight: currently 6 kg Location: Shelter/Portugal compatibility with others: male dogs, females, children & cats Our Karla is currently puppy-like, lively, carefree, and exploring her world. Karla's character will of course continue to develop in the coming months. Naturally, she will still gain a few more centimeters in height in the next few months. The young lady is ready to embark on her journey to Germany by the end of June. No puppy should grow up in the shelter. We are looking for a home or foster home where Karla can peacefully explore the world and simply be a puppy. Those who adopt a puppy should be aware that puberty will begin after the puppy stage. Therefore, we are seeking sensitive and patient people who can show Karla, with patience and loving guidance, how wonderful life can be. It is worth noting that every shelter dog, and especially considering its past, brings its own story. Therefore, we can never predict how the dog will actually develop and react to living in Germany with you. Karla can travel to a foster or final placement.

Alter: geb.

About Karla in Portugal

What life with Karla in Portugal looks like

Karla in Portugal is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Pro Dog International e.V. in Talkau.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karla in Portugal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karla in Portugal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pro Dog International e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karla in Portugal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karla in Portugal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pro Dog International e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karla in Portugal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karla in Portugal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pro Dog International e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karla in Portugal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
