Katara

Mixed Breed · Unknown

She's a beautiful girl, isn't she? Katara is also a true treasure in terms of character, she loves to cuddle! The colorful girls are often said to have a certain cattiness, but fortunately Katara hasn't read the character description for her coat color ;-) That's a good thing, because the little lady needs medication twice a day due to hyperthyroidism. She takes it without any problems. Other cats stress her out and she would rather live without them. However, if they are quiet and polite, that's less of a problem. Katara needs her medication at the same time every day, 12 hours apart. Therefore, outdoor access is probably a bit difficult with her, that would have to be discussed in detail. We would rather see her in indoor housing, preferably with a balcony or secure outdoor access, as she loves to lie in the sun. Then send us an email with information and photos about the future cat's living situation or leave a message on our answering machine. We would be happy to make an appointment and show you our cats, as well as possible furnishing options. In a personal conversation, we will discuss you and the needs of the individual animal individually and find the best possible human-cat constellation with you.

About Katara

What life with Katara looks like

Katara is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. in Minden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Katara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Minden e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
