Kelly

Dachshund · Female · Young · 3 years

18-06-26 Kelly is a lovely girl who has come to us from a breeder. She would very much like to be your friend, but she is feeling a little worried and lacking in confidence at the moment. She is still adjusting to her new surroundings and will need time, patience, and understanding to help her settle. We believe that with plenty of reassurance and gentle encouragement, Kelly will soon begin to come out of her shell and show her true personality. Kelly will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home. Having a canine companion to look up to will help her learn about home life and continue to build her confidence. She can live with older dog-savvy teens who are sensible and allow her to settle in at her own pace. As she has never lived in a home before, Kelly will need patient adopters who can help her learn all the basics, including house training and walking on a lead. To begin with, she may prefer gentle garden explorations while she gains confidence and gets used to her new environment. Given the time, love, and support she needs, Kelly is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion. She is looking for a calm and understanding home where she can continue her journey and enjoy plenty of TLC. She has arrived with an overshot jaw that does not bother her, but should be monitored in her new home to ensure she is comfortable. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Kelly

What life with Kelly looks like

Kelly is a young adult dachshund dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kelly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kelly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kelly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kelly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kelly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kelly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kelly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
