Kenny Rogers

Poodle · Male · Young · 1 year

Kenny Rogers is looking for a calm and predictable home with minimal visitors to begin with. He would like loving and understanding adopters who can help him to settle into a home environment after not having the best start in life. He could live with older secondary school children who can let him approach at his own pace, who will play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when needed. Kenny likes to keep all of his toys to himself so needs to be the only pet in the home, once he has settled and gain more confidence he could have polite and calm walking buddies. Kenny is currently doing step and harness training and can be enticed to do training when he feels safe, he loves a tasty treat so this will help to get him to engage. He would like a home with a private garden to explore and potter at his leisure. Kenny can settle nicely alone so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Kenny will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home with potential home visits to make sure he is settling in well, so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Meet Kenny, a 1 and a half year old Poodle cross who is looking for the right home to call his own. He has some confidence building to do but is becoming more assured every day. He loves, loves, LOVES his toys and likes to throw them in the air and chase around after them, bouncing around like a little lamb. He will happily play all day if he could, and there is always room for his favourite people to join in on the fun. He is quite an independent lad and prefers to play rather than have fusses, just being in your company is enough for him right now, although he will on occasion wander over and give your hand a quick boop with his nose before heading off again. This playful pooch is looking for a fresh start with a loving family, could it be you?

About Kenny Rogers

What life with Kenny Rogers looks like

Kenny Rogers is a young adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kenny Rogers, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kenny Rogers?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kenny Rogers on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kenny Rogers if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kenny Rogers already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kenny Rogers isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kenny Rogers and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
