Adopt Kian

Mixed Breed · Male

Kian is a calm and social cat who desires a safe home with adults or a family without small children. He takes his time getting to know his surroundings at his own pace, and thrives best when he can be close to the people he lives with in his own space. He desires a home with good and safe outdoor opportunities. I am a calm and friendly boy who likes to have an overview and a sense of security around me. I take my time observing before I know everything is safe, but as I get to know you, I like to be close to you and be part of what you do. I am a curious feline who loves to follow along on everything that happens, whether you are working, cooking, or relaxing – I am like a silent assistant! I do not scratch furniture and handle the vacuum and other household noises just fine. If I do find something to be upset about, I listen when you say "no" 💙 One of my big hobbies is sitting by the window and having full control of the neighborhood. I appreciate a good window where I can follow the life outside until I get to go out and explore for real. When it comes to food, I like to have the litter box on the floor. Being lifted is not my favorite, but I appreciate attention when I take the initiative myself. At night, I like to sleep in the bed with the people I live with, close by and with my own little part of the blanket.

About Kian

What life with Kian looks like

Kian is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
