adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Kikko has been locally rehomed! His story: A home is not a home … without a dog. Who would like to give our cute Kikko a home? Kikko currently lives in a private foster home in Romania. The male dog is approximately 9 months old and is in the best age to learn a lot! At the moment, he is about 53 cm in size and is expected to grow a bit more. His sleek fur is simply a looker! At first, Kikko is still shy, but he warms up when he realizes that you mean him well. He enjoys attention and cuddles very much. Kikko also gets along well with his fellow animals. We do not know how he handles cats. Our cute Kikko with his exceptionally nice fur pattern still has to learn many things. He is neither house-trained, nor can he walk perfectly on a leash or stay alone. He also has to master the 1×1 of dog training. Puberty is knocking already. In this phase, boundaries are tested, and already learned things are sometimes forgotten. It is important to hold through with love and a lot of patience by his side. After this phase has been overcome together, Kikko will certainly become a wonderful family dog. We recommend attending a dog training class that works exclusively positively, where both the human and the dog learn from each other! Kikko is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and can move into his new family with his EU pet passport. He would also be very happy about a foster home placement. Heartfelt thanks to Adriana M. for naming Kikko! This was the start of a new life! As of: 01.05.

Stand: 01.05.2023

About Kikko

What life with Kikko looks like

Kikko is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kikko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kikko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kikko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kikko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kikko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kikko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kikko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
