KIKO

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Kiko, a female cat approximately 2 years old, is looking for a home with outdoor access. Kiko arrived at the shelter with her newborn kittens in a very poor health condition. Despite numerous veterinary visits, she has not lost her love for humans. Although she brought numerous flea infestations, she has devotedly cared for her young. Kiko is an exceptionally gentle, food-loving, and people-oriented cat who definitely needs outdoor access. If she does not receive it, she can become a loud and aggressive terror. Kiko is extremely affectionate and suitable for very young "human children." She is also very social with other cats. She is skeptical of dogs. When she has her "play attacks," it is clear that she is still a child herself. She plays wildly with her kittens, some of whom are also still looking for a home. Her boys are still very attached to her. Kiko has been tested negative for FIV/FElv, is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and vaccinated against feline rhinotracheitis/panleukopenia/rabies AND leukemia. So a complete package including a great character! She is just waiting for the right people! If you can provide the extraordinary fur ball with a suitable home with outdoor access, please contact or email us at .

About KIKO

What life with KIKO looks like

KIKO is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald in Wald-Michelbach.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting KIKO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KIKO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KIKO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KIKO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KIKO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KIKO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzinitiative Odenwald early rather than rehoming privately; they know KIKO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
