King

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Β· Male Β· Puppy Β· 8 months

King could live with children aged 13+. He could potentially live with another well-matched dog, but no cats or small animals. King is a lovely young boy who is full of energy! He shows both Collie and Staffie traits, so requires an experienced owner who has plenty of time to dedicate to his training. He needs an active family who can keep up with his physical needs, but also provide him with plenty of mental stimulation – this intelligent boy is so switched on and needs to keep his brain busy! King sadly seems to have missed out on some of the early training and socialisation he should’ve had. He can be frustrated around other dogs and is still working on his excitable puppy behaviours. He is still very young and so it is essential that his new family are able to put solid foundations in place for progressing his training and socialisation, so he can develop into a confident, healthy and well-rounded adult dog. King has struggled when going back into a kennel after his walks and this may translate to separation anxiety in the home. He will need a family who are around a lot of the time and who are able to work on slowly building up any time that he is left alone, so that he is able to overcome this. It is such a shame that King has already ended up in the shelter at such a young age. We know that, for the right family, he will be an absolute pleasure to get to watch learn, grow and become the fantastic dog he has the potential to be. We have no doubt he will require time, patience and consistency when he first goes home – as all young, energetic dogs do – but he so deserves to find his forever family who can turn what may be β€˜too much’ for others, into a lifetime of adventures shared together, where King can forget all about his tough start to life.

About King

What life with King looks like

King is a small puppy staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting King, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about King?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw King on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt King if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is King already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if King isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know King and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
