Kittens

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten

The kittens could live with children of any age. They could potentially live with other animals and are looking for homes where they will have outdoor access once old enough. We currently have some kittens in our care who are looking for their forever homes! The kittens are still currently undergoing their essential socialisation, whilst some are doing well building their confidence, some are still a little wary and getting used to their human friends, so would benefit from calmer, quiet homes. Kittens require lots of play, stimulation and companionship and so they are looking for families who have lots of time to spend with them whilst they continue their development into happy, healthy adult cats. We are thrilled that they are now ready to go to their forever homes. They are looking for very special homes who will spoil them rotten and show them the love they so deserve. The kittens have received treatment for ear mites. Whilst now resolved, any potential rehomers should be aware that this will be classed as a pre-existing condition and won’t be covered by pet insurance. The rehoming team will discuss the kittens’ veterinary history in further detail with any successful applicants.

About Kittens

What life with Kittens looks like

Kittens is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kittens, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kittens?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kittens on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kittens if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kittens already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kittens isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kittens and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
