Kinou

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 1 year

📖 History: The story of Kinou begins sadly: found abandoned in a car, alone in the middle of a field, without water or food. This rescue marked the beginning of a new life for him, and today, he is ready to turn a new page… 🔥Character: Kinou is a loving dog, searching for a family for life. He needs a home without another dog, or with a fellow animal of the same species who completely ignores him, as he values his peace above all. He is okay with cats, calm dogs, NACs, and has no issues in the car. Very close to humans, Kinou shows affection once he has given his trust. He loves cuddles and play, but knows how to remain calm and composed in his corner. He is a true chameleon: comfortable for a hike or a nap on the couch. ⚠A gentle educational follow-up is to be expected upon his arrival. Kinou tends to want to protect "his human," especially from strangers. He may also show a bit of resource guarding, but he communicates very well: he sends many signals to read and respect to avoid any misunderstandings. He is on the right path, progressing every day, but he still has a ways to go to gain in serenity. With patience, understanding, and respect, Kinou can fully flourish. Côté santé, Kinou is gradually regaining weight, eats everything, and the work for his conditioning is in good progress. Kinou is a sensitive, intelligent, and loyal dog who just needs time, understanding, and a calm environment to fully flourish.

About Kinou

What life with Kinou looks like

Kinou is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Association Thalya Protection in France.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kinou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kinou?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Thalya Protection handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kinou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kinou if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Thalya Protection will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kinou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kinou isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Thalya Protection early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kinou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
