Kira

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Kira is a friendly, open-minded, people-oriented and playful young female dog who was saved from certain death by the quick thinking of an attentive truck driver. The young puppy wandered completely disoriented on a highway. The driver slammed on his brakes and blocked the road to prevent Kira from being hit. When he got out of the truck, she immediately approached him trustingly. He brought her to safety and contacted us. Fortunately, we had an available spot and were able to take Kira in. Kira was incredibly lucky. Just a few moments could have ended her story very differently. Instead, she now has the chance at a sheltered life with people who love her and will never leave her side again. Today, Kira is a happy, open and playful young dog. She quickly settled into her dog group, loves to romp around with her canine friends and approaches her surroundings curiously and carefree. She values human interaction very much. She enjoys every petting session and crawls up close to her caregiver for cuddles. Her loving and affectionate nature makes it hard not to fall in love with her. At just five months old, Kira already has a shoulder height of about 49 cm. She is expected to reach an adult size of 60-65 cm and grow into a stately female dog. For Kira, we are looking for an active family who enjoys discovering the world together with her. People who love sports, long walks, hikes or other joint activities and at the same time give her the time to learn the basics of being a dog. Kira brings all the right qualities to become a loyal companion for many adventures together. Now she just needs one thing: a home of her own. Who will give this wonderful dog the future she so richly deserves after her difficult start in life? They are all vaccinated, chipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for age-appropriate Mediterranean diseases. See the information on our homepage. Every dog placed makes room for one of those dogs who must live their lives starving and emaciated.

DE·Show original

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Kira

What life with Kira looks like

Kira is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Frequently asked

Adopting Kira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
