adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Kiran is an impressive and beautiful male dog who has been waiting for the right people to see him for a long time. Like many Romanian dogs, he arrived with no known background. Whether he ever had a real home, we do not know – what we do know is that he landed in the Public Shelter in Baia Mare and has been hoping for a second chance. A chance that can only be found with experienced dog owners who are ready to take him in. Kiran is now approximately 5.5 years old, about 62 cm tall, and weighs around 27 kg. His soft, white and blond speckled fur and his alert gaze make him a real looker. But behind his beautiful appearance lies a dog who has clearly had very different experiences with people in his life. This is evident in his behavior: with some people, he is open, friendly, and cooperative, almost docile – with others, he reacts defensively and can also show aggressive behavior. This ambivalence makes clear that Kiran absolutely needs an experienced, confident, and sensitive handler. Kiran can be taken out of the kennel and touched by people he trusts, but only after he has built trust with them. Trust must be earned – and that takes time, patience, and the ability to read his signals. With other dogs, Kiran is generally compatible and behaves socially. Given that we must assume that Kiran has barely or not at all experienced life in a home, much will be new to him in a home environment. Therefore, a stable, predictable daily routine with people who can give him security is crucial. Positive dog training classes can be very helpful after the adjustment period to provide Kiran with security and orientation and to strengthen the bond. For Kiran, we are looking for a quiet, rural home without children and without too much hustle and bustle. His new people should be absolutely experienced with dogs and ready to work consistently, lovingly, and with clear management alongside him. Those who give Kiran the time he needs and provide him with a reliable framework will be rewarded with a loyal and impressive four-legged friend. An experienced foster home would also be a crucial step for Kiran to finally get out of the stressful shelter situation and show who he can be with the right guidance. Kiran travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. Thank you, dear Kirsten J., for giving Kiran his beautiful name and thus an unmistakable identity. A big thank you also goes to Daniel F., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Kiran. As of: 05.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 05.12.2025

About Kiran

What life with Kiran looks like

Kiran is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiran, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiran?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiran on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiran if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiran already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiran isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiran and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
