The kittens entrusted to their care were still full of life, but then they suddenly collapsed, dying from severe illness. Even immediate veterinary care could not prevent the worst: the death of the babies. Around 10 kittens died right before our eyes. It is easy to imagine that our foster homes have fallen into a whirlwind of despair, hopelessness, and surrender. The question "why do I even do this voluntarily?" was asked more than once. The offspring of cats that reproduce wildly are getting sick year by year. Extreme parasite infestation, infectious diseases, and malnutrition lead to the early deaths of the tiniest. Waren die in ihre Obhut übergegebenen Kätzchen eben noch voller Leben, so kippten sie im nächsten Augenblick totkrank um. Bei der sofortigen tierärztlichen Inanspruchnahme konnten auch alle eingeleiteten Maßnahmen das Schlimmste nicht mehr verhindern: den Tod der Babies. Rund 10 Kitten starben uns buchstäblich unter den Händen weg.Man kann sich gut vorstellen, dass unsere Pflegestellen in einen Strudel aus Verzweiflung, Hoffnungslosigkeit und Kapitulation geraten sind. Die Frage „warum tue ich mir das eigentlich ehrenamtlich an?“ wurde nicht nur ein Mal gestellt. Die Nachkommen sich wild vermehrender Katzen werden von Jahr zu Jahr kränker.
