Kitty

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 8 years

Kitty ❤️ a true definition of beauty … and a cat with her own unique personality. All cats are simply beautiful. And then there's Kitty 😍 She's one of those cats that makes you involuntarily look twice. A beautiful face, a great aura, and an appearance that you simply can't forget ❤️ But Kitty wouldn't be Kitty if she were just beautiful 😉 Because behind this extraordinary beauty is a very sensitive and strong-willed cat who has her own ideas about life. Kitty is very people-oriented. She seeks contact with her humans very specifically, enjoys attention and closeness, and can be a real cuddly cat. ❤️ At the same time, Kitty has a very clear body language. She tells her humans quite unmistakably when she wants closeness and when to stop now. And that's exactly what you have to respect. Kitty doesn't want to be overlooked or harassed. Who can read and accept her signals gets a very special relationship with her. Kitty reacts very sensitively to her environment. Too many stimuli, hectic or situations that she can't categorize, can quickly overwhelm her. If too much frustration and tension has built up in her, it can happen that she shows this tension at an inopportune moment to her human. That doesn't make her a "bad" cat. Kitty simply needs people who understand what's behind her behavior, recognize her signals early, and help her not to get into such overload in the first place. For Kitty, this means above all peace, structure, fixed reference persons, and as little unnecessary excitement as possible. Kitty also doesn't want anything to do with other cats. She has lived as a free-roaming cat so far and desperately wanted to go outside. The problem was that the cats in her environment massively stressed her. Encounters and conflicts with conspecifics have repeatedly overwhelmed her and made her outdoor time a permanent burden. And that's exactly why we are probably looking for the famous needle-in-the-haystack person ❤️ We wish her a home with completely secured outdoor access, ideally a securely fenced garden, where Kitty can be at her heart's content without encountering other cats or getting into conflicts. A quiet home, fixed reference persons, secured garden, no other cats, no dogs, no small children, fixed, reliable routines, people who are willing to take Kitty's body language seriously ... We have a lot of wishes 🙈 But we also know that Kitty needs exactly this home to be able to be really happy. Kitty is really not a cat for everyone. But if she has gained trust, seeks closeness, and consciously chooses her human, then that's something very special ❤️ Maybe there is that one person out there for whom Kitty is not too difficult 🙏 If you would like to get to know Kitty, please fill out our inquiry form.

About Kitty

What life with Kitty looks like

Kitty is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kitty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kitty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kitty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kitty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kitty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kitty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhelfer Ingelheim e. V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kitty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
