Karakter: Kiwi is een erg lief hondje maar die door langdurige stress in het Roemeense asiel helemaal in haar schulp gekropen is. Ze vindt het daardoor heel moeilijk om zichzelf te laten zien en durft heel weinig uit zichzelf. Zo weinig dat ze eigenlijk op een vierkante meter op de hoek van de bank leeft, dat is haar veilige bubbeltje.Ze is dus echt een onzeker hondje dat nog veel begeleiding nodig heeft om meer zelfvertrouwen te krijgen. In haar bubbeltje is ze wel een erg lief hondje die geniet van je aanwezigheid en aandacht. Er zit zo'n lief gezellig hondje verborgen in haar! Het zal alleen nog maanden duren voor haar om zichzelf steeds meer te durven laten zien. Gedrag in huis: Doordat Kiwi zo in haar kleine bubbeltje zit, is ze erg rustig in huis. Ze slaapt veel om alle prikkels te verwerken. Wel geniet ze erg van aandacht en massages vindt ze heerlijk, eten is ze ook dol op van gewone brokjes tot lekker kluiven. Ze vindt het erg fijn om andere honden om zich heen te hebben, maar durft nog niet met ze mee te doen. Ook vindt ze het fijn om gezelschap te hebben van haar mensen en wil eigenlijk dat er altijd iemand in de buurt is, daar haalt ze dus veel vertrouwen uit. Wanneer ze niet weet waar je bent of je van huis gaat vindt ze dat erg moeilijk en gaat gestrest rondlopen en blaffen. Ze is keurig zindelijk en kan goed met katten samenleven. Wel heeft ze een rustiger huis nodig in een rustigere omgeving zodat ze ook echt haar rust kan vinden. Overigens is Kiwi recent een weekend uit logeren geweest. Dat ging prima, ze liet geen terugval zien in haar gedrag. Gedrag buiten: Wandelen vindt Kiwi leuk en een 'Kiwi ga je mee?' zorgt voor de enige momenten dat ze uit zichzelf de bank af komt. Dan loopt ze zelf mee naar de achterdeur waar haar tuigje aangaat en zodra de deur open gaat is ze buiten. Ze is ook keurig zindelijk en binnen enkele meters heeft ze haar behoefte al gedaan. Wel heeft Kiwi een stressemmertje dat nog snel overloopt, dus het wandelen moet wel gedoseerd gebeuren in een rustigere omgeving. Geen praatjes met andere mensen, niet de drukte in, gewoon jij met de honden lekker een wandelingetje maken in het groen. Zodra haar stressemmertje gevuld is, slaat het gezellige wandelen om in rechtstreeks naar huis willen. Het is dus altijd goed doseren en zorgen dat ze daarna thuis alle rust krijgt om de prikkels te verwerken door te slapen. Een goed omheinde tuin vinden we een voorwaarde voor Kiwi. Nu durft ze daar net zo weinig als in huis, ze gaat in een hoekje zitten en durft vrijwel niet meer te bewegen. Daar zal ze dus ook aangelijnd mee naartoe genomen moeten worden, samen wandelen in eigen tuin tot ze er zo vertrouwd is dat ze het ook zelf durft. Dat kan misschien wel een paar maanden duren, maar zodra ze dat durft zou het erg fijn voor haar zijn om een eigen veilige plek buiten te hebben waar ze kan leren dat ze mag spelen en ontdekken.
