Klak

Galgo Español · Male · Adult · 5 years

Klak is looking for his golden basket Klak is a gentle, sweet Galgo with a heart of gold. He came to the shelter severely emaciated and injured, but now resides in a foster home in the Netherlands where he is opening up every day. At first everything was scary - bicycles, scooters, the TV, unexpected noises. But Klak proved to be flexible and brave: step by step he has overcome his fears and shows how amazing he is. His special gaze, gets a paw from us. He loves to run and play with other dogs, but can also enjoy lounging in his basket. Sometimes a bit naughty (food on the table is not safe 😉, but let's be honest, several galgo owners will recognize this, won't they? ) Although he has made a lot of progress, he is still not a "doggy first". He prefers to observe new or unfamiliar situations from a distance, sometimes he hides behind his galgo friend in the foster home. Yet we see him becoming more confident every day. Important to know: Who gives this special handsome boy the loving place and a new playmate he deserves? Do you want to adopt Klak and do you also have a dog who would like a playmate? Email us and we will send you the adoption procedure. Be Kind To Every Kind

Be Kind To Every Kind

About Klak

What life with Klak looks like

Klak is a adult galgo español dog waiting at Dogs Behind Bars in Belgium.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Klak, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Klak?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Behind Bars handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Klak on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Klak if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Behind Bars will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Klak already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Klak isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Behind Bars early rather than rehoming privately; they know Klak and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
