Knabbel

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 15 years

Knabbel is a 15-year-old Chihuahua who has come to us because her owner can no longer care for her due to health reasons. We are looking for a quiet and loving home for Knabbel where she can spend her golden years. Knabbel is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and cuddly lady. She enjoys attention immensely and loves to be with you. Despite her age, she still has plenty of love to give and enjoys the company of her people. ❤️ With other dogs, Knabbel gets along well. She also has no problem with quiet cats. A quiet household where she can have her own space would suit her well. There are a few things her future owner should keep in mind. Knabbel can't be left alone for long and makes this clear by barking a lot. This is even worse in a crate. It's important that she is not left alone for too long and that her new owner can take this into account. Additionally, Knabbel has a bad tooth. This means she can only eat soft food, such as pate. Unfortunately, Knabbel is not fully house-trained. She does her business indoors, but fortunately not on furniture or other items. She goes to the floor for this. This means that her new owner will have to deal with an accident in the house. For this sweet senior, we are looking for a warm and quiet home where she doesn't have to do much, but can enjoy attention, soft beds, and lots of cuddles. After living with her owner her whole life, Knabbel deserves a loving place where she can spend her golden years safely and comfortably. ❤️ ✓ 15-year-old Chihuahua ✓ Extremely sweet and affectionate ✓ Loves cuddling and attention ✓ Gets along well with other dogs and quiet cats ✓ Can't be left alone for long and barks a lot ✓ Has a bad tooth and can only eat pate ✓ Unfortunately not fully house-trained Are you looking for a small senior dog that needs love, comfort, and lots of cuddles? And can you offer Knabbel a quiet home where she doesn't have to be alone for too long? Then this sweet old lady might find her forever home with you. ❤️🐾 Vroenhoutseweg 37 4703 SH Roosendaal Tel.

❤️🐾 Vroenhoutseweg 37 4703 SH Roosendaal Tel.

About Knabbel

What life with Knabbel looks like

Knabbel is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Het Dierenhuis in Netherlands.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knabbel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knabbel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Het Dierenhuis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knabbel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knabbel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Het Dierenhuis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Knabbel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knabbel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Het Dierenhuis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knabbel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
