Luna

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Luna has been with us at the shelter since mid-October 2025. She had a difficult time shortly after her arrival: she became very sick because she stopped eating, which caused her body to start poisoning itself. That was a tense period, but fortunately Luna has since recovered well. She eats again, although she remains a lady with a refined taste - she knows exactly what she likes and what she doesn't. Luna is a quiet cat who likes to have her own place. She can enjoy lounging in a warm radiator hammock, but she also loves human attention. Sometimes she seeks that attention enthusiastically - for example by coming to your vicinity or making a jump towards your shoulder. She sometimes needs to get to know new people, but she is certainly not a timid or shy cat. At our shelter, Luna is currently with relatively quiet cats, but we think she would thrive best as the only cat in a home, where all the attention can go to her. Dogs don't seem to be a good match for her. A household where someone is often at home would also be the best fit, because Luna enjoys contact with her people. Luna is a sensitive cat who functions best in a quiet, predictable environment without too much hustle or stimuli. When she feels safe and has her own place, you can see that she relaxes and shows her sweet character. She is used to going outside and clearly enjoys it. She regularly spends time in the outdoor enclosure at our shelter and used to go outside with her owner. That's why we are looking for a place where she can safely go outside - an apartment without an outdoor space is less suitable for her. In short: Luna is an enormously sweet, sensitive cat who is looking for peace, attention and a stable environment. In the right home, where she feels safe and can be herself, she will undoubtedly flourish again.

NL·Show original

Vroenhoutseweg 37 4703 SH Roosendaal Tel.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Het Dierenhuis in Netherlands.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Het Dierenhuis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Het Dierenhuis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Het Dierenhuis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
