adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Knuddel can travel directly to his final home! His story: Bistrita, Romania. White, fluffy fur, large black button eyes, and an unimaginable amount of sadness… This is our wonderful Knuddel, who has been vegetating in a small hut in the public shelter in Bistrita for many long months. Knuddel is compatible with his fellow animals and is simply a lover. All he wishes for is to finally leave this place. Since Knuddel may bring herding dog qualities, experience with this breed is advantageous. For our Knuddel, we wish for a home in the countryside, as the city bustle would not be right for our little one. A large, well-fenced property would also be nice for him. However, he wishes to be fully integrated into his family and to live in the house. Knuddel is very sensitive and needs the closeness and affection of his trusted people. With Emilia, who feeds him daily, he has built a relationship. She can leash him, pet him, and touch him everywhere, and he shows no aggression. For Knuddel, we are searching for a dog-experienced, empathetic home where he can arrive at his own pace. We wish for him a patient, friendly, and loving relationship with experienced people who have no expectations of him and who are not intimidated by setbacks. Knuddel wishes for a quiet home, more rural, with enough retreat possibilities if it gets too noisy for him. He should always be allowed to set his own pace and decide what is or is not doable for him. Fixed routines, much routine, and rituals are very important for Knuddel, as they provide security and stability. Additionally, as few changing situations or strangers as possible. Knuddel is approximately 5-6 years old and about 57 cm tall. He has wonderful, soft fur and looks simply adorable. He is compatible with all dogs and has maintained a wonderful, positive nature despite his difficult past. We hope very much that he will soon find a home and live many beautiful years of love and care in a family. He wishes for a more rural home with a garden so he can lie in the sun and feel the grass. Knuddel travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home. He will also bring his EU pet passport. Knuddel would also be very happy with a foster home! Who falls in love with our wonderful, white Knuddel and gives him a chance? Many thanks to Shurakai! You gave Knuddel his name and thus his identity! A big thank you also goes to Monika W., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Knuddel.

Vielen Dank an Shurakai!

About Knuddel

What life with Knuddel looks like

Knuddel is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knuddel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knuddel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knuddel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knuddel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Knuddel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knuddel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knuddel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
