Koa

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Gender: male dog neutered: yes Birth: November 2016 Origin: Bulgaria In Wörrstadt since: 08.02.2025 shoulder height/weight: 43 cm / 15 kg Breed: mixed breed Koa our little wonder bag. He was very reserved when he arrived, and he hardly approached people or dogs on his own. We thought he just needed some time to adjust. When we integrated him into a group, we noticed for the first time that he ran into a door, which can also be stress-induced. Then there was a situation where we thought he was blind. So we took him to the vet, and he determined that Koa is completely blind, not even seeing any shadows. Looking back, it's so impressive how well Koa has found his place in this completely foreign situation, with strangers, other dogs, and a new environment, that we only realized he was blind after weeks. Koa walks great on a leash, is compatible with dogs, and we have found that he does exceptionally well in new situations, although he is very shy and easily scared. So, for someone who wants to give a true fighter a loving home, he will make you happy.

Geschlecht: Rüde Kastriert: ja Geburt: 11/2016 Herkunft: Bulgarien In Wörrstadt seit: 08.02.2025 Schulterhöhe/Gewicht: 43 cm / 15 Kg Rasse: Mischling Koa unsere kleine Wundertüte.

About Koa

What life with Koa looks like

Koa is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Wörrstadt in Wörrstadt.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Wörrstadt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Wörrstadt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Wörrstadt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
