Koala

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 5 years

01-10-26 Koala is a frightened little lady who has come to us from a breeder and is still very unsure of us humans. She can be quite a flighty girl and, at the moment, would much rather hide away than have people approach her. Once she is safely in your arms, she is easier to handle, but she will need plenty of time and patience to learn that people can be trusted. Koala relies heavily on her kennel friends for confidence and comfort, so she will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who can take her under their wing and help her feel more secure. Having a canine friend by her side will be very important as she begins to experience life outside of kennels. Koala has never lived in a home before, so she will need understanding adopters who can give her the time she needs to settle in and learn about house training. Lead walking may be far too scary for her initially, so she will need a secure garden where she can safely explore, sniff and build her confidence at her own pace. Koala can live with older, dog-savvy teenagers aged 16+ who are sensible and understand that she will need plenty of space and patience. Her adopters will need previous ex-breeding experience so they can better understand her needs and help her adjust to life in a home. Koala is a very frightened girl, but underneath her worries is a little lady who deserves the chance to learn how wonderful life can be. She is looking for someone special who is willing to take a chance on her and give her the time she needs to blossom. She has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Koala

What life with Koala looks like

Koala is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
