Koby

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Koby is a gorgeous, friendly 18 month old who is looking for a new home through no fault of his own. Koby is a good size strong boy at 32kg, he is friendly towards other dogs, especially his little friends who he can be surprisingly gentle with, he can be too over the top for some dogs which has resulted in a few tellings off, which he’s taken respectfully. Koby is a strong boy on lead so his owner uses a Gentle Leader or a Halti to help, he does have a good recall when there aren’t too many distractions around and loves his time off lead, he’s always happy to meet and play with other dogs especially the little ones. He does like to jump up for a hug with his owner, but he does have large paws that he can accidentally catch you with if you aren’t expecting them. Koby sleeps on blankets in his crate at night as he destroys plush beds, he can steal cushions, sometimes to lay on and other times to put holes in or hump, he really likes kongs and bones and loves retrieving a ball, soft toys don’t last long as Koby loves destroying them at light speed. When not keeping busy he does love sofa cuddles and will happily cuddle all evening after a full day of playing and running around with his friends. Koby does suffer with separation anxiety and struggles being left at home alone, unfortunately a neighbour has complained about his barking when he’s been left, with this in mind we believe Koby would really enjoy having a canine companion to play with and for company. He has been corrected by several males previously which could be due to him still being entire or being very excitable which is probably why he much prefers females. Koby has seen cats and is interested but he’s not been close enough for his owner to fully understand how he would react in close contact with a cat, but he has seen them on his garden fenced and watched with interest. He hasn’t had contact with livestock so careful introductions would be needed. Koby has been wonderful with the teenage children that he’s been living with and younger family children that have visited, he also enjoys having dog friends visiting for a play dates. Koby travels in a crate but barks and whines when the car starts, which has limited where his owner could take him. He started off whining quietly when younger and it has now escalated to barking, so new owners would need to be aware of this and prepare for reintroducing him to traveling in a calmer, quieter manner. If you feel you could offer this lovely, energetic youngster the ongoing training and company that he loves please contact us. Koby is currently in the Hampshire area and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and his Adoption Contract. About Koby

What life with Koby looks like

Koby is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
