Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! Koby is losing her home—not because she’s done anything wrong, but because her family’s living circumstances have fundamentally changed due to a separation and health issues. The approximately 5-year-old mixed-breed dog is therefore, with a heavy heart, looking for a new home where she can stay forever. Koby was born in May 2021, stands about 35 cm tall, measures roughly 75 cm in length, and weighs around 12.4 kg. She likely has some Dachshund-Shepherd mix in her, though this cannot be confirmed with certainty. She is not spayed. Koby is a friendly, cuddly, and people-oriented dog who thoroughly enjoys the closeness of her caregivers. She is house-trained, can comfortably stay alone for periods of time, and behaves calmly and pleasantly indoors. At the same time, she exhibits typical Dachshund characteristics—sometimes a bit stubborn, but always endearing. Koby gets along well with children and also gets along well with most other dogs. However, she often barks at white dogs. Cats should not live in her new home, as she does not like them. In addition, Koby has a strong prey drive and therefore should not be allowed to run off-leash outside secured areas. Koby already knows basic commands such as “Sit,” “Stay,” and recall. With loving consistency and clear rules, she is easy to train. Even as a young puppy, she attended dog school together with her family. Koby also handles car rides well. Initially, she may be a bit restless, but she relaxes after a short while and then travels without any problems. Whether it’s a house or an apartment—Koby feels comfortable everywhere as long as she gets enough exercise, mental stimulation, and the closeness of her people. We are looking for loving people for Koby who will give her time to settle into her new home and provide her with the attention, exercise, and security she needs. With her friendly, calm, and cuddly nature, she will surely bring much joy to her new family. Koby can be visited and met at any time by prior arrangement. Koby is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has an EU pet passport and can move into her new home after a positive pre-adoption check against a protection fee. Who will give Koby the chance for a fresh start and a forever home? As of: July 18, 2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Koby

What life with Koby looks like

Koby is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
