adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Kody has found a home! His story: Kody had a tough start in life. Found alone with his siblings Nio and Strolchi near a trash can on the outskirts of the city Medias – without a mother, without protection, without anyone to care for him. A friend of a loving animal rescuer discovered four puppies by chance on her drive, picked them up, and brought them to Cluj to the animal clinic. Unfortunately, help came too late for the smallest of the siblings. The other three, including Kody, made it – and are ready for their next big step: their own home. Kody is a real looker: with his black-and-white fur, floppy ears, and warm brown eyes, he looks like a little gentleman with a big heart. Currently, Kody lives in a loving foster home in Romania, where he is making his first positive experiences with people and everyday life. He shows puppy-like playfulness, friendliness, openness, and is absolutely people-oriented. He loves being in contact and enjoys every form of attention. So far, he gets along well with other dogs. The compatibility with cats has not yet been tested. As Kody is still a young puppy, he still needs to learn the small dog basics: house training, walking on a leash, being alone, car rides, everyday noises like vacuum cleaners or doorbells – all of this is still new to him. What he needs are people who take him by the paw with love, show him the world, and accompany him safely through these first months of life. And then comes puberty. Like with us humans, this phase brings big changes. The sweet, obedient puppy begins to experiment. Kody will likely test boundaries, seemingly forget what he has learned, and sometimes act like a teenager on a self-discovery trip. During this time, he needs people with humor, patience, and consistency – people who help him orient himself and grow into a stable, confident dog with clear guidance, lots of heart, and positive reinforcement. We wish Kody a home where he is welcome – with all his energy, his playfulness, his sensitivity. People who don't expect everything to be perfect right away but give him time to learn at his own pace. People who enjoy growing with a young puppy, gently correcting mistakes, and celebrating progress. A visit to a positively working dog training class would be a great way to strengthen the bond and help Kody understand the big, colorful world better. After his adjustment period, Kody will surely appreciate mental stimulation: sniffing games, walks together, loving training, or just cuddle time with his people – as long as he feels like he belongs. Kody is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive match. Who will give Kody the security, love, and safety he deserves? Many thanks to Claudia! You named Kody. Date: 04.05.

Vielen Dank an Claudia! Du hast Kody seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 04.05.2025

About Kody

What life with Kody looks like

Kody is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kody, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kody?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kody on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kody if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kody already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kody isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kody and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
