Adopt Koru

Central Asian Shepherd Dog · Male · Adult · 5 years

Koru was born in November 2020, a male Central Asian shepherd dog from Kiskunmajsá, who came into our care after an official rescue from a breeding and dog collecting farm. Unfortunately, he lived in bad conditions in his previous life: he was neglected, kept on a chain, and his ears were severely cropped. Despite all this, Koru has made a huge journey. Initially shy, he has developed a lot in such a short time, and is now a friendly, open, playful and affectionate male dog. His sparkling eyes show how kind and loving a dog he is. He can become a devoted companion in the right environment. He is looking for a responsible owner, where his high need for movement can be met, consistent training and family environment are provided. We would like him to find a home where he is treated as a family member and gets the care he has been deprived of so far. Koru is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered and can be adopted as a family member.

About Koru

What life with Koru looks like

Koru is a small adult central asian shepherd dog dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires consistent training and high exercise needs due to breed characteristics. Has cropped ears from previous neglect.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Koru, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Koru?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Koru on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Koru if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Koru already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Koru isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Koru and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
