Adopt kovi

Male · Adult · 6 years

COVI was rescued upon a citizen's report about three dogs in very poor condition in the area of district "Svoboda". When they brought him to the clinic, he was not scared, but simply terrified. The poor animal was half-dead from malnutrition, with a matted coat and injuries all over the body. We washed him, dewormed him, vaccinated him, and performed blood and skin tests. We prescribed him medical treatment. After several months of regular feeding, walks, brushing, bathing with a therapeutic shampoo, taking medication, and several antibiotic therapies, COVI started to regain his normal appearance. Also, his kind temperament. He still fears unfamiliar things, just needs a little time to trust them. Sofia 1000, Pirotska street 8, entrance A, 1st floor. Tel: temperament: Cautious and very shy. With a soft temperament and tolerance towards other dogs.

About kovi

What life with kovi looks like

kovi is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) in Sofia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient owner due to traumatic past and ongoing fearfulness of unfamiliar situations

🇧🇬Adopting from Bulgaria

Bulgarian shelters typically include full vet workup, sterilization, and passport. Many coordinate with EU rescue partners for direct transport to adopter cities in Germany, Netherlands, and Austria.

Frequently asked

Adopting kovi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about kovi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw kovi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt kovi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is kovi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if kovi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) early rather than rehoming privately; they know kovi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (BG). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
