After treatment, she is now ready to start the search for her new home! While she may seem nervous to begin with, once she is settled and gets to know you, she is a social, affectionate cat. Kumi was previously in foster care where she enjoyed spending time with people in a home environment. We are sure that, given time, patience and plenty of reassurance, her true gentle personality will begin to shine through.Kumi is searching for a quiet and calm home where she can settle in gradually and build confidence. New adopters should be prepared to give her the space and understanding needed while she adjusts to a new routine. She has shared her time with us with other cats and could possibly share her new home with a friendly feline companion, with gradual introductions in the home. It is unknown how she would react to dogs in the home.Kumi could live with older children, over 10 years old, who can respect her boundaries, understand when she needs space, and help to provide a peaceful home environment. About Kumi

What life with Kumi looks like

Kumi is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ulster SPCA in Northern Ireland.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kumi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kumi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ulster SPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kumi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kumi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ulster SPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kumi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kumi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ulster SPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kumi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
