Kundziņš

Male

The face of a Yorkshire terrier puppy and even the look in its eyes reflect pure innocence, unfortunately the little dog who came to the shelter because his owner went to a nursing home has earned the status of the most aggressive dog at the shelter. The puppy, whose real name is Kundziņš – probably it's impossible to find a more appropriate name – from the first day at the shelter has placed everyone in a state of tension: staff, volunteers, visitors, recognizing only one person as worthy of respect, obedience, and love: the shelter manager. We, all others, cannot touch Kundziņs even with a finger: he will bite. And yet, despite this one person's recognition, Kundziņš will not be able to stay at the shelter forever. The shelter manager has decided to show potential new owners how to get along with the puppy. One thing is clear, the dog will not be suitable for a large family, rather for a single person or an adult couple with experience in "dog ownership." Disregarding the shelter manager's attitude towards everyone else, "not my person," with his own he is the embodiment of warmth and love, enjoys playing with toys, adores walks, lying on the couch, and is well-behaved. If you want to meet Kundziņs, please contact the "Good Home" manager first, as only she will be able to properly introduce you. Please call or write: 29493377.

About Kundziņš

What life with Kundziņš looks like

Kundziņš is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kundziņš, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kundziņš?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kundziņš on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kundziņš if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kundziņš already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kundziņš isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kundziņš and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
