Kuromi

Mixed Breed · Female

Temperament: Kuromi is a beautiful female dog of the German long-haired shepherd type. She arrived at the animal shelter along with three other dogs: Odyn, Melody and Banshee. We don't know their history, but besides Odyn, the three female dogs are shy towards new people. Thanks to the involvement of the staff and volunteers, Kuromi goes on walks and explores new areas to visit. She goes there individually or with Banshee. Thanks to this, the girls can run together, play, explore, and continue to become accustomed to humans. With familiar people, Kuromi is bold and playful, however, each new person causes her great distrust and fear. Kuromi is expressive and in moments of strong excitement, she sometimes uses her teeth and grabs sleeves, however, if the caregiver has a stuffed toy, Kuromi gladly chooses the object instead of the sleeve. Kuromi values the touch of the caregiver and tolerates physical contact. She loves running wild with her sister Banshee, digging holes and bathing in various water bodies. Her coat requires brushing, the future caregiver should be aware that it will be necessary to get her used to this activity. For Kuromi we are looking for a home:

Usposobienie: Kuromi to piękna suczka w typie długowłosego owczarka niemieckiego. Trafiła do schroniska razem z trzema innymi psami: Odynem, Melody i Banshee.

About Kuromi

What life with Kuromi looks like

Kuromi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kuromi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kuromi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kuromi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kuromi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kuromi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kuromi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kuromi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
