Laciatka

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

Laciatka - a cautious soul searching for trust. Laciatka is an approximately ten-year-old female dog currently living in a shelter in Poland. She is a beautiful, large and well-built female dog who has probably experienced more disappointment than security in her life and is accordingly cautious when dealing with people. Trusting people is difficult for her; in stressful or confusing situations she prefers to withdraw. Those who meet her need patience, calmness and the understanding that good relationships grow and are not forced. Even in contact with other dogs, Laciatka shows herself to be rather reserved. Sometimes she reacts nervously or uncertainly, but always remains peaceful. Her reaction is to withdraw, she keeps her distance, runs away. Despite everything, Laciatka has not given up. On the contrary: those who observe her see a female dog who gradually opens up again. She shows joy in going for walks. She shows the Polish animal protection colleagues every day how much zest for life is still in her. She explores her surroundings curiously, enjoys smells and moments of closeness - when she feels safe. Once she has gained trust, she can surprise everyone with great tenderness and devotion. For Laciatka, we are looking for a quiet, secure place with people who have experience in handling sensitive or insecure dogs. A home without hustle and bustle, where she can arrive at her own pace, without pressure, with lots of respect and understanding for her past. An enclosed garden would be beneficial, as well as fixed routines that give her orientation. Laciatka may not be the dog that immediately cuddles up. But those who give her time and are willing to accept her uniqueness will be rewarded with a quiet, honest connection. Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring along a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. They are aware of this responsibility and have a serious interest in adopting Laciatka? Then please contact the responsible adoption officer of SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. The contact information is below.

About Laciatka

What life with Laciatka looks like

Laciatka is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laciatka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laciatka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laciatka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laciatka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laciatka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laciatka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laciatka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
