Laika - Senior Alert

Chihuahua · Female · Senior · 9 years

Laika and her friend Paloma were given away by one of their owners after their papa passed away. They landed from a home, sofa, familiar faces, to a kennel in a loud shelter full of unfamiliar people. It is a hard shock for all dogs abandoned from a home, but especially the very senior dogs. Laika is a very small Chihuahua-type of girl, who loves to go for walkies, and investigate the dog parks independently. She loves soft chicken filet, but has a hard time chewing harder food/snacks, most likely because of her teeth being in a bad condition. She will be having a dental cleaning and nail cutting, plus a nice bath, and she will be ready for her forever home. Laika is very happy to see humans who she already knows a bit and trusts, then she wags her tail and puts her little paws on your shoulders, asking for attention. She is very tiny and delicate, and sudden movements frighten her, but other than that, she is not scared really. Once she knows you a bit, she loves to be near you, in physical contact with you. Laika is looking for a person who likes to go for slow, calm walks, and a home where she can spend most of her time together with her human. Laika's shoulder height is just 24cm, she is very miniature. Laika & Paloma can be adopted together, but do not necessarily have to, because they have very different tempos and energies, and even though they support each other of course, they would both strive in their golden years in different individual homes. Laika will enjoy to be on the sofa snuggling with her human, while Paloma seems to still desire to spend the remaining of her life quite physically active! It is however a requirement that in case they go to their individual homes, both dogs must leave the shelter at the same time, so neither is left behind. All of our seniors are looking for forever homes or forever fosters. The shelter will always be available for medical & behavioral support for seniors in their retirement homes.

About Laika - Senior Alert

What life with Laika - Senior Alert looks like

Laika - Senior Alert is a small senior chihuahua dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laika - Senior Alert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laika - Senior Alert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laika - Senior Alert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laika - Senior Alert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Laika - Senior Alert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laika - Senior Alert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laika - Senior Alert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
