Lana

English Bulldog · Female · Young · 2 years

This lovely girl is Lana! She is looking for a forever home where she can continue to grow in confidence and receive all the love she deserves. She is an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl who absolutely adores attention and will happily soak up all the fuss you can give her. When she first arrived with us, she was quite timid and nervous, but with patience and lots of TLC she has really come out of her shell and is now loving life. She can still be startled by loud noises or sudden movements, so she will need a calm, quiet and understanding home that will help her to continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She loves playing with her toys and enjoys spending time with her people. She also walks beautifully on the lead, making her a lovely companion for relaxed strolls. Previous knowledge or experience of the Bulldog breed would be an advantage, as they have specific care needs and understanding the breed will help set her up for success in her new home. She would benefit from a private secure garden. She has socialised well with other dogs whilst in our care, so we feel she could potentially live with another dog of similar size and energy levels following a successful meet and greet (must be neutered). As Lana came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on her and as she can still be a little unsure with sudden movements and loud noises we would prefer any children in the home to be 10+ years.

About Lana

What life with Lana looks like

Lana is a medium-sized young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
