Lana

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Lana, a friendly Lhasa Apso, arrived at the APAP animal shelter with a heavy heart. She had previously lived with a young man who considered her part of the family. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, he was no longer able to care for her and meet her needs. We cannot and will not judge this difficult decision, as it was not made lightly. However, for Lana, it was a difficult transition from living with a family to living in a kennel. The noise level at the shelter, unfamiliar smells, and daily routines were unsettling for the reserved Lana. Fortunately, Lana has many qualities that helped her overcome her initial uncertainty and show her true nature. Lana is very affectionate and people-oriented. She takes every opportunity to charm her way into some cuddle time with the shelter staff. We know she enjoys being around people and can adapt well to new situations. Once she feels comfortable and secure, Lana shows her playful side. She also gets along well with her fellow dogs. She now lives harmoniously with two other dogs in a stable group. Although Lana has proven she can make the best of the situation at the shelter, she knows what she wants - to leave the shelter as soon as possible. We can imagine Lana in many different situations. She would thrive in a family with children old enough to understand how to interact with dogs without overwhelming them, as Lana is a sensitive dog. We can also imagine Lana with a single person or a couple, whether they already have a dog or not, in a city or rural setting - all of these factors are not decisive for Lana. What is important to her is having human companionship and age-appropriate stimulation. Lana would be enthusiastic about many activities that challenge her clever mind and satisfy her need for exercise. If you have any questions about Lana or the adoption process, please contact us.

About Lana

What life with Lana looks like

Lana is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
