Laverna

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Baby · 4 months

Laverna was only a very young puppy when she was found on the streets with both of her back legs broken. She was rushed for emergency veterinary treatment, where she underwent surgery to repair her injuries. Thanks to months of dedicated care and rehabilitation, she made an incredible recovery and today lives a full, active life. Although her legs healed remarkably well, her difficult start is still something future adopters should be aware of. Laverna runs, plays, walks, and enjoys life like any other dog, but it is sensible to avoid repetitive jumping over high obstacles or activities that place excessive strain on her hind legs. Swimming may be an excellent low impact form of exercise for her, although this has not yet been tested. Maintaining a healthy body weight and providing regular, sensible exercise will help protect her joints as she gets older. Laverna is a highly intelligent dog who learns exceptionally quickly. She enjoys working things out for herself, pays close attention to the people around her, and responds very well to positive reinforcement training. She would thrive in a home where she is given opportunities to continue learning through training sessions, puzzle toys, scent games, or other forms of mental enrichment. She is also wonderfully expressive. Laverna has an impressive collection of barks, grumbles, sighs, and funny little noises that she uses to communicate with her people. She seems to have an opinion about almost everything and is not shy about letting you know when she thinks it is time for a walk, a game, or simply some attention. Laverna genuinely loves people and enjoys being part of family life. She is affectionate without being overly needy and likes being included in whatever her people are doing. She is also very good with children and forms strong bonds with the people she trusts. She is an active dog who enjoys long walks, exploring new places, and discovering everything happening around her. Curious by nature, she likes to investigate new environments and is happiest when life is interesting. Her ideal home would be with people who enjoy spending time outdoors and are looking for a dog who can accompany them on walks, day trips, and everyday adventures. With other dogs, Laverna is generally social and enjoys their company, but she has a confident personality and prefers to be in charge. She can be dominant with other dogs, so introductions should be managed thoughtfully, and she would do best with dogs that are comfortable around confident personalities. She has not been formally tested with cats, although based on her personality it is thought that she may not be suitable to live with them. Everything about Laverna seems to happen at full speed. She learns quickly, reacts quickly, eats enthusiastically, and throws herself into life with genuine excitement. Living with her is never dull because she is constantly engaged with the world around her and eager to participate. What makes Laverna particularly special is that, despite everything she endured as a puppy, she has never lost her enthusiasm for life. She has grown into a healthy, capable, and incredibly engaging young dog whose difficult beginning is now little more than a reminder of how far she has come. Laverna is looking for a home that will appreciate both her intelligence and her energy. In return, she will offer loyalty, endless entertainment, and a lifetime of adventures to the people lucky enough to call her family.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laverna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laverna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Amospet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laverna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laverna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Amospet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laverna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laverna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Amospet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laverna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
