Adopt LEDA

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Léda is a most surprising rabbit. She is not afraid of anything, explores her environment and the living beings that populate it, whether human or animal. She loves cuddles, climbing on the couch to join you. Léda is well in her skin, she is balanced, very sociable, and knows the small dogs (Yorkshire, English springer spaniel) and cats. She is starting to get used to hay, showing some difficulty with it, but she even likes to be scratched on her head, and she doesn’t have any problem being scratched on her bottom, quite the contrary! But she doesn’t like being held in someone’s arms, she needs some greens (for now, she likes dandelions, a little endive, and she has accepted a bit of banana once). She doesn’t bite, she doesn’t show aggression – except during intense moments of stress, but even then she accepts a bit of contact to be comforted.

About LEDA

What life with LEDA looks like

LEDA is a small adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Gamelles Sans Frontière in Île-de-France.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting LEDA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LEDA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gamelles Sans Frontière handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LEDA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LEDA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gamelles Sans Frontière will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LEDA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LEDA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gamelles Sans Frontière early rather than rehoming privately; they know LEDA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
